Understanding Cell Organelles

By NursingSprint Nursing Team · Updated May 17, 2026

A quick guide to the organelles most often tested on the TEAS Science section.

Cells are the basic units of life, and each organelle has a specific job.

The nucleus stores genetic material. Mitochondria produce ATP, the cell's energy currency. Ribosomes build proteins, while the Golgi apparatus packages and ships them. Knowing each organelle's role is enough to answer most TEAS cell-biology questions with confidence.
